Running for State Office...

Hello everyone, my
name is Zachary Barnes and
I am the NCTSA Reporter. This is my second year as a state officer
and I have thoroughly enjoying
the experience. As a
state officer, you have to
help get programs together
for the leadership and state
conferences. When I first
thought of being a state officer
I though that it would be
just a title, but it is not, you
have work to do preparing
for conferences. One of the
great things about being a
state officer is that you meet
new people. I personally
have met state officers and
many fellow TSA members.
The state officers and I hear
people say all the time I am
going to run for a state office
and we encourage them to do
that. The process of becoming
a state officer is like this:
First, you have to fill out an
application (that you get
online at the NCTSA website)
and send it to Mrs.
Squibb, the State Advisor,
before state conference.
Then, when you are at the
state conference, you schedule
a specific time to have an
interview. When your time
comes, you will be interview
and the decision of
which state office you will
run for is determined. After
that, it is campaign time.
The candidate will make a
speech to the membership
and spend free time going
around to talk to members.
Overall, you will enjoy it,
because it is a fun experience.
Zachary Barnes, NCTSA
Reporter
